  • Located about 250 km east of Cape Town, at the northern end of the historic Tradouw Pass through the Langeberg Mountains.

  • Surrounded by mountains, vineyards, fruit orchards, fynbos, and rock pools—ideal for hiking, swimming, bird‑watching, and scenic drives.

  • Warm, dry summers (25–35 °C) and mild winters with frosty mornings.

  • Municipality since 1921, with a multi‑cultural population (~4,200 residents, speaking mainly Afrikaans.

  • Rich architectural heritage featuring Cape Dutch and Victorian‑style buildings, traditionalchurches, and preserved early homes known as Nagmaal Huisies
